About Us

What We Do

i-plas takes UK mixed plastic waste that would otherwise be destined for landfill and converts it into sustainable, high performance, environmentally friendly street furniture, plastic lumber and eco friendly products which are 100% recycled and 100% recyclable.

Our History

The company was originally established in 1999 with the sole objective of developing the technology needed to efficiently and effectively treat and recycle plastic waste and to produce materials and products for the benefit of customers and the wider society.

Over the years the objective hasn’t changed but the size of our business and the range of our products and customer base has.

Recently renamed i-plas, we have developed, and continue to enhance, a unique waste processing technology and are now the UK’s leading supplier of manufactured innovative plastic composites for traditional and high performance applications. We regularly work with clients’ materials technologists and University research departments to develop formulations and carry out testing to meet technically advanced applications.

Current Profile

i-plas was initially established with support from the European Landfill Tax Scheme, Kirklees MBC and Calderdale MBC in recognition that plastic waste was a growing environmental concern.

i-plas is now a commercially successful organisation offering effective plastic waste solutions to local authorities and businesses across the UK.

We provide an extensive range of standard and bespoke products to a wide range of customers.

With our sister company, we operate from 160,000 square foot premises devoted to recycling, manufacturing and distribution. Annually we can process up to 6,000 tonnes of mixed waste plastic, which we sort, grind and convert to specific formulations based on the eventual use of the recycled material.

With many of our customers we have developed ‘closed-loop’ recycling schemes where the plastic waste we collect from them is used in the profiles or products we supply back to them. The benefits of this arrangement for our customers and the environment are very considerable.

As a business built on creating a more sustainable future we have robust environmental policies and procedures and all our electricity is sourced from renewable resources which is certified by Scottish and Southern Energy.
