IN THE BAG! ECO SLEEPER DEAL

The Sun - 14 February 2009 Network Rail plans to replace nearly 200,000 wooden sleepers a year with plastic bags, old car bumpers and discarded drinks bottles. The rail operator has awarded a potential multi million 'eco' contract to Halifax-based recycling firm i-plas, who will build sleepers out of 100 per cent recycled plastic. The first trials will begin in March and until then i-plas are looking into doubling in size.
